which laid the foundation for the independence of African
and Caribbean States. The 2001 Remembrance Day was preceded
by the First ARD Memorial Lecture 'The Significance of the
5th Pan-African Congress' presented by Dr. Hakim Adi and held
at Manchester Metropolitan University.

The City Council erected Pero Bridge in honour of Pero, a
