A day for reflection, renewal and healing of the African family.

Who We Are:

The African Remembrance Day Committee (ARDC) organises African Remembrance Day.
ARDC is a self-financing, charitable organisation, consisting of the following:

Patrons: Margaret Busby, Brenda Emmanus, Eric Grant, Richard Hart, Baroness Roz Howells, Oona King MP, Eusi Kwayana, Patrick Wilmot, The Rt. Revd. Dr Wilfred Wood KA.

Trustees: Onyekachi Wambu (Chair); Pat Marsh (Secretary); Jan Francis (Treasurer); Roy Williams (Website); Chidi Wambu (Publicity); Ra Hendricks (Information); Beverley Brown (Outreach); Makeda Coaston and Askala Mariam (Event Coordinators)

ARDC works with others to promote and acknowledge ARD/Emancipation Day and to erect monuments to the African victims of slavery.

It seeks to ensure that ARD is also acknowledged by the descendents of the enslavers, in their first steps towards making reparations for the past.

The ARDC also works to produce information, booklets and seminars, including the annual African Remembrance Day Memorial Lecture, to educate people about the
African victims of slavery.
